Visual Effects Tests for Olivia’s Ghost

When you work with a director who is not only talented but also one of the hardest working people you know and one of the kindest souls around, and then you see the visual effects (VFX) work they do on their work… and the special effects (SFX)… and the… well, let’s just say the list is a long one… well, one sits there at times in moments of awe.

We’re in post-production on Olivia’s Ghost, a prequel story for Mister Sandman and it couldn’t be in safer hands than with our helmer, Chad Costen, and so I wanted to share with you a couple VFX comparisons that Chad published as he works towards picture lock on this second instalment in the Mister Sandman universe.

If you missed the first instalment in the Mister Sandman universe that is now a part of Crypt TV’s Monster Madness, I recommend you check it out here on Crypt TV. … and we’ll see what’s in the future for Mister Sandman, it’s all wide open. Stay tuned for more updates!

“Death Wish” has its German premiere tonight at Weihnachts Film Festival

Death Wish has been, by far, our most successful short film, having been to festivals around the world, picked up for distribution by Shorts International, and having even made some money – which is an anomaly for indie, live action short films. And now the film, directed by Chad Costen and produced by Timo Puolitaipale, is bowing at its last festival – appropriately a Christmas festival, in Berlin.

Weihnachts Film Festival, in its third year, is all about Christmas but also includes offbeat holidays flicks in its four day run. With hundreds of submissions from over 50 countries, we’re quite blessed to have been selected. To be playing on opening night is even more of an honour, so we thank the organizers for having us.

There are also other great Christmas films playing, including our family favourite Moomin trolls in Moomins & The Winter Wonderland.

Mister Sandman debuts on Crypt TV

The early summer’s excitement involved an agreement with Crypt TV to air the teaser episode of our supernatural horror series Mister Sandman: Nightmares Manifest.

With millions of subscribers and successful series like Look-See and Sunny Family Cult and rabid fans hungry for content, Crypt TV, which is quickly becoming the Marvel for Monsters was a tremendous opportunity to test the waters with the nightmarish Mister Sandman.

And wow – BLAM! – we were off to the races! The audience reaction has been tremendous, with almost 150,000 views to date on YouTube, 1000’s of likes, fantastic fan comments, and even some surreal reaction videos!

Then there’s the fan theories…

One of those isn’t too far off the mark! But you’ll have to wait to find out which one I mean. It feels pretty exciting to wade back into the dark, murky, monster-filled waters as we develop more episodes, which are slated to shoot this fall/winter.

We just need a little boost from all of you to help make it happen!  Be part of our team by letting your friends, family and social media community know about what we are doing, and re-post our posts about ghouls and ghosts as often as you can!

Showcasing British Columbia in Citizen 11’s latest commercial work

Embrace yourself

As we’re just wrapping up our engagement with the athleisure wear company Vividly Vivian, I wanted to look back at the work we did on three spots that took us around British Columbia to showcase the unreal beauty in the nature all around us.

It’s quite a treat to be able to work in our region, and to have our work and BC be seen all around the world. Our province offers such a vast range of terrain, from the lush rainforests and oh-so-majestic mountains to sandy beaches and craggy shorelines. Any visit is too short, it takes years to get to know all that surrounds us.

Here is a peek at one of the commercials, which Vividly Vivian is currently running on deskptop versions of their website.

The Legend of Zelda: A Missing Link

Citizen 11’s Chad Costen just completed a colossal achievement in the realm of independent filmmaking. With practically a zero budget, he and his crackerjack team created A Missing Link, a tribute film to the creators of The Legend of Zelda.

Combining practical effects with computer-generated effects, this live action short film brings us all the characters we’re familiar with from the games, with a talking Link as the wise-cracking hero.

The film is a sample of what Citizen 11 can offer you in production and visual effects services.

Citizen 11 provides script translations for Tom of Finland

Citizen 11 is proud to have provided translations of the in-development screenplays for the theatrical feature film Tom of Finland, which is currently making its festival tour and debuting throughout the world.

As many European films access financing from Eurimages or participate in development outside their home countries, the scripts need to be translated into Finnish. This is one of the core services here at Citizen 11, and we’re proud to partner with film and TV writers and produces to provide high-quality translations that maintain the writer’s meaning and tone.

Teasing Mister Sandman

The teaser/trailer for Citizen 11’s in-development feature Mister Sandman is finally complete and live.

Very proud of the hardworking team on set and in post. Not only did we capture some amazing footage and scout the potential feature shoot location but were dazzled by the visual effects and sound artistry.

Death Wish gets 3 stars from Film Threat

Our short film Death Wish was reviewed by the legends at Film Threat, and after waiting on pins and needles, we were rewarded with 3 stars… they are truth in entertainment yes, sometimes the truth hurts.

It’s nothing to rave about nor is it something to pull out hair over. It’s one assessment of many layers of work that went into the making of our baby. As proud papas and mamas, of course there’s always the twinge on hearing anything bad, but it’s an honorific to have it out there for the world to enjoy and to discuss.

Thank you , Film Threat!

A look back at Radio Free Krakow

In 2009, Timo produced the original web series Radio Free Krakow with his partner, Ryan FitzGerald, at Rogue Nation Studios.

Distributed by LifeforceTV, it’s a story of conspiracies and betrayal that brought with it a layer of interactivity, where the audience members were able to get into character and follow side narratives that happened outside the show at www.radiofreekrakow.net.
